• Maria Derbani Graduate Researcher - Minerva Initiative

    Maria Derbani is a first year Master's candidate and research assistant at CPOST. Since graduating from the University of Florida in spring of 2017, she is a graduate student at CMES and hopes to pursue a concentration on foreign policy and political violence. Maria is currently a member of the Minerva narrative team and assists in analyzing propaganda mechanisms of ISIS. She expects to graduate from the University of Chicago in the Spring of 2019.

  • Soo Wan Kim Graduate Researcher - Special Projects

    Soo Wan Kim is a graduate researcher at CPOST. She worked with the Minerva Propaganda Team in the fall of 2016 and lead a project on compiling and analyzing a database of propaganda videos produced by al-Qaeda's Yemeni affiliate al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. She is a master's student in the MAPSS program at the University of Chicago, concentrating in Political Science with a focus on international security and computational research methods. She expects to graduate in the winter of 2018.

  • Saloni Jaiswal Undergraduate Researcher - Minerva Initiative

    Saloni Jaiswal is a second-year at the University of Chicago with plans to major in Political Science. She joined CPOST in the spring of 2017 as a member of the Data Team, in which she helped update and maintain the Suicide Attack Database. She joined the Minerva Initiative's Narrative Analysis Team in the summer of 2017, in which she conducts narrative analysis of ISIS martyrdom appeals. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2020.

  • Sophia Kierstead Undergraduate Researcher - Special Projects

    Sophia Kierstead is a rising second-year at the University of Chicago and is pursuing a double-major in Political Science and Psychology. Beginning in 2017, she has worked at CPOST as a research associate for the Indictment Database within the Special Projects Team. She expects to graduate in 2020.

  • Chloe Hyman Undergraduate Research/Data Assistant - Suicide Attack Database

    Chloe Hyman is an undergraduate at the University of Chicago. She intends to graduate in the spring of 2020 with a degree in Political Science and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Chloe joined CPOST in the summer of 2017 as a member of the Data Team updating the Suicide Attack Database.

  • Liya Khan Undergraduate Researcher - Minerva Initiative

    Liya Khan is a second year undergraduate studying Political Science at the University of Chicago. She is also pursuing a minor in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations with a focus in Arabic. Liya works with the Minerva Project, cataloguing and analyzing propaganda and recruitment videos. She expects to graduate in the Spring of 2019.

  • Owen Elrifi Undergraduate Researcher - Special Projects

    Owen Elrifi is a second year undergraduate at the University of Chicago studying Public Policy and Political Science and minoring in Human Rights.  He joined CPOST in the winter of 2017 as a member of CPOST’s data team, and helped maintain the Suicide Attack Database. On campus, he is heavily involved with the Institute of Politics, as well as Peer Health Exchange and GlobeMed at UChicago.

  • Hadiya Hewitt Undergraduate Research/Data Assistant - Suicide Attack Database

    Since joining CPOST in Fall 2016, Hadiya Hewitt works as a research and data intern and updates the Suicide Attack Database. She is a third year majoring in Political Science, and is interested in the interaction between intelligence and foreign diplomacy. She intends to graduate in Spring 2018.

  • Kira Ke Undergraduate Researcher - Office of Naval Research Grant

    Kira Ke is a research/data assistant at CPOST and an undergraduate at the University of Chicago. As an undergraduate, Kira is pursuing a B.A. in Political Science. Since joining CPOST in her first year of studies in April 2015, she has been working with the data team on verifying and updating CPOST's Suicide Attack Database on attacks in Nigeria. She has also contributed to in-depth research on identifying Nigerian suicide bombers. Kira will graduate from the University of Chicago in the spring of 2018.
