Paul Staniland is an associate professor of political science at the University of Chicago. He codirect the Program on Political Violence and is the Chair of the Committee on International Relations, a one-year MA program in IR. Staniland’s research focuses on political violence, international security, and state formation, primarily in South and Southeast Asia. His award-winning book, Networks of Rebellion: Explaining Insurgent Cohesion and Collapse, was published by Cornell University Press in 2014. He is currently writing a book about “armed politics” in southern Asia and tweets about political violence @pstanpolitics
