Andrew Twomey is the senior vice president and general manager of the Defense Business Unit of ManTech’s Mission Solutions & Services (MSS) Group. He leads the teams who are Bringing Digital to the MissionTM and developing, harnessing and adapting technologies that deliver innovative solutions and mission-essential services. The unit also provides full life cycle support for C5ISR
systems as well as field maintenance and logistics services.

Mr. Twomey leads the charge to add digital capabilities to solutions for the U.S. Defense Department ManTech focuses on integrating new technologies and processes to improve effectiveness of traditional services and to provide new capabilities to meet emerging challenges. It develops techniques to deliver full-spectrum cyber operations that can better disrupt, mitigate and neutralize cyberattacks, and apply artificial intelligence to decades of vehicle maintenance data to create a predictive tool that, for one, keeps the military’s Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles road-ready and safe. Other efforts include the use of digital modeling tools that enhance Navy and Air Force system engineering requirements and the employment of Agile software development techniques to improve software sustainment of global command, control and intelligence systems in the Army and Marine Corps.

Before entering the workforce as a civilian, Mr. Twomey led a distinguished Army career and retired as a brigadier general. While a flag officer, he served as the deputy commanding general and chief of staff for the Combined Security Transition Command in, Afghanistan, where he planned and directed the execution of security assistance programs to field the Afghan National Security Forces. He also served as deputy for Programs, Analysis and Evaluation as part of the Army Staff, G-8. An infantry officer, Mr. Twomey served in the 2nd and 7th Infantry Divisions, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and commanded the 2nd Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division.

He joined ManTech in 2015 after holding several leadership positions in the commercial sector, including at Phycal, Inc., where he led operations to develop commercial processes for the production of bio-fuel and renewable chemicals.

Mr. Twomey earned a Master’s degree in security studies from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Military Academy.
